A plaque in the the memory of Ric O'Brien will be presented to the angler who loves to fish as much as Ric did. The winner will be decided by Ric's mother, Margaret O'Brien, of Jingles' Bait & Tackle

This year the Ric O'Brien Memorial Award is awarded to a person that fishes about 12 months out of the year. He is a guy that is fairly quiet and you do not hear about all the fish he catches. He just enjoys fishing. Many of the fish that he catches are released. He is a person that if you need help he will be right there for you. He enjoys seeing other people catch fish ~~ especially when it comes to kids catching fish. Knowing him I think he gets as much enjoyment out of it as if he caught it.

Ric was very similar in that way. At a young age he had taken David Smith under his wing and when ever there were fish biting he would call him and take him fishing. When it came time for David to start driving the beach Ric was there to pull him out every time he got stuck.

This person loves the Classic and gives back to it each year. The prizes' that he gives are one that the winner will cherish and will bring back memories of that fish that won him or her that prize.

It is with my pleasure that I present the
Ric O'Brien Memorial Award this year to John Parzych.
